Welcome to our new school website
A message from our Headteacher
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our new school website. You will find lots of information about our Early Years Campus and School - if you are a parent/ carer, pupil, member of staff or part of our wider community (which we call our 'Kinneil Family').
We are very proud of our school and rightly so. We use social media, and in particular our international award winning Facebook page, to share our news and achievements with the wider community. This has helped further enhance communication. Our Facebook and Twitter pages are embedded on our website for those who don't access social media.
At Kinneil we enjoy extensive school grounds with a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), a grass area the size of two 7 aside football pitches, a friendship shelter, ECO area known as 'the forest', playground painted games, an outdoor speaker system (in each playground), garden planters, picnic benches, and lots of large fixed equipment. We're always working closely with our Parent Council to further enhance our school playgrounds.
Our school roll has increased significantly over the last 5 years. We now have over 270 children in 10 classes from P1 to P7. In 2015 we changed from having a nursery class to an Early Years Campus, which caters for babies and toddlers and is open all year round. We have raised attainment in each of the last 4 years in Literacy, Numeracy (Mental Maths and Outer Numeracy), Reading and Writing; and are very proud of our children's individual achievements as well as school achievements e.g. we recently received our third ECO Green Flag.
Our children are enthusiastic, friendly, welcoming and well behaved, with good school attendance. Our staff are very hard working and very committed to doing their best for each and every child in our school. 'Pupil Voice' and 'Pupil Leadership' is very strong and well embedded in our school culture. We have meaningful Pupil groups/ roles for: Literacy, Numeracy, Pupil Council, Library, ECO, Health, Citizenship, Enterprise, Digital Leaders and more depending on School Improvement Priorities.
Our school is well resourced and enjoys good links with the local and wider community, something which we are looking to further develop. We enjoy a very successful partnership with our Parent Council which is open to all of our parents.
Our core value at Kinneil is ‘Respect’. We welcome anyone to come in for a visit and experience just how fantastic our children and staff are.
I hope that this website gives you a flavour of what our school is like. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions, or better still come and visit!
Mr PT Fleming
